7/12 - The Culture of Distraction - Peter van Dusen

In January, I read a sociological study of the Amish. I did not expect the profound effect it had on me. I grew up an hour away from Lancaster, PA, and have own about the Amish for many years, so it was startling to find myself being effected in such a way. Subsequent reflections have crystallized my thoughts about numerous aspects of our media, education, politics and culture in general. It also brought to the fore an idea called "social capital," which of course prompted more reading! After Services join us for Yoga with Kitty Bevis at 1:30 and Men's Group at 6:30.
