Nominations
We are seeking candidates to serve as coordinators of our new "supercommittees." Anyone willing to serve can contact Steve Boyd of the Nominating Committee, 830/606-0636.
Services for Ed Brown
Ed Brown, longtime member of First Church and a good friend to Community as well, died Saturday. A memorial service will be held for him Tuesday night at First UU, but the exact time has not been set. His niece is arriving on Monday, and she will set a time then.
Annual Meeting
This year's annual meeting for approval of budget and officers for 2001-2 will be held on Sunday, May 20, after services.
CUUC Men's Group
The CUUC men's group welcomes all males in search of guy food, beer or pop, and--in moderation--conversation. The group meets twice monthly at 7:30 on carefully chosen evenings during the second and fourth weeks. The first carefully chosen evening in May is Wednesday, May 9. You can get in on the careful choice of the second meeting, and other secret guy stuff, by subscribing to the men's group mailing list. To subscribe send an email to cuuc-men-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. Access for the digitally challenged is available from Henry Halff (210-493-7501 or henry@quiensabe.com).
Garage Sale Planning
Remember our Community Garage Sale, coming up in a couple of weeks! You can donate household items, books, tapes or cd's, tool, electronic equipment, and more. Non-clothes items can be brought to the church now, and Steve Boyd can pick up things as needed. The date of the sale is May 19. For more information on items and pick-up, contact Steve Boyd (830/606-0636), or John or Joan Bradshaw (341-8506).

The Board proposes that any additional funds from new or increased pledges or carry forward should be divided equally among the three areas.
The Church owns a CD for a $3,000 Ministry Fund. The Church will own a CD for $1,500 for Capital Improvements.
*The Total Mortgage is 15 shares whose original principle has been paid down from $10,000 to $8,300. 15x8,300 = $124,500.
Generally the proposed budget is about $4,000 less than last year because of $2,000 less pledges and $2,000 less carry forward.
Calling All Florida Grads
Are you a UU... and a Seminole too?
Can you help? The University Unitarian Universalists of FSU are attempting to identify as many alumni/nae from FSU as possible. Whatever your university, please send in the following information about yourself: Your name, address, email, telephone number, colleges/universities attended and year graduated. Send it to kim@cennexus.com or Campus Ministry, UU church of Tallahassee, 2810 N. Meridian Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312. FSU Alumni can visit www.afn.org/~afn49740/uuu.html for an online form.

What Brings Us to CUUC?
At the January 9, 2000 service, each member of the congregation wrote on a card what, of a spiritual nature, brought them to church. Because the answers to this question tell us a good deal about ourselves, we publish one of them in each newsletter. We welcome any additional contributions from those not in attendance at the service, or those who were.
Here is May 2001's selection.
I attend CUUC in order to participate in a life-affirming community that explores ideas that reach beyond the ordinary. It is a community that allows me the freedom to choose how I want to share and how I want to grow, both with support, love and appreciation.
