We Need to Spruce Up Our Church
Have you noticed that things are getting a bit overgrown outside and messy inside? We need everyone's hands to spruce things up. The Operations and Maintenance Committee has scheduled a work day for Saturday, July 14. The starting time is early, 8:15 am, to avoid the heat. We hope to be done by mid-afternoon. Please come when you can and help out as much as you can. You can go swimming afterwards. The jobs include trimming trees, cleaning up the playground, weeding in the front garden, cleaning closets, cleaning windows, and many more. Many spaces in the old part of the church also need painting. The church has many tools that can be used but if you have a favorite tool please bring it. What we need most is willing workers. Please come and join use. For questions or suggestions please call Robert McKee evening at 681-4197. /P>
Conflict Resolution
We'd like to set up some guidelines on conflict resolution within CUUCSA. The UUA provides workshops and other assistance in this area. If you'd like to be CUUCSA's representative at a workshop, or if you already have experience in this area, please contact Henry Halff, 493-7501.
Leadership Needed for Fun Fundraising
We've got followers, but we need a leader! The Operations and Maintenance Committee is looking for someone who will lead a fund raising event for the church this fall. We have a few ideas, such as a service auction, but we welcome others and anyone willing to organize it. As a congregation we planned on a fundraiser and the committee's goal is for it to be fun. There are people on the committee willing to help if you are willing to lead. This is your chance to give something intangible to the church which has a multiplier effect. With your leadership, we can raise money and have fun too. For questions or to volunteer please call Robert McKee at 681-4197.
Religious Education
Our cooperative RE Committee is meeting regularly in order to present another quality program for the coming year. For lack of a unique name, we are adopting the name Way Cool Sunday School used by other churches. WCSS is a "code" that describes a monthly schedule that includes two Sundays using regular UU curricula, one Sunday doing children's or intergenerational worship and one doing social justice activities. The activity for the fifth Sunday, should there be one, will be determined on an "as needed" basis or Community building will be included. Catherine McKee has agreed to do the first half of the year of Worship, Sandi Boyd teaching the preschool curriculum and others will be recruited throughout the summer. In August, I will hold a Teacher Training workshop for those interested. During the summer we are having a very casual program. Swimming, crafts and games are the current activities of choice. However, if you have an activity that you would like to share with our children please sign up, in advance and I can usually get you some assistance.
WAY COOL SUNDAY SCHOOL WISHES,
Joan Bradshaw, Chair, Religious Ed. Comm.

Water Communion
CUUCSA has established a traditional "end of summer service," in which many of us share stories of our summer experiences and share water samples we've brought back from our travels. This year's water communion will be held on August 26. As you go to the beach (or to that mountain stream), remember to bring back some water to share with us as we start our fall season.
Mission Statement
It's time to update the CUUCSA Mission Statement. If you'd be interested in working on a statement that reflects our goals and objectives, contact Margaret Batschelet, 655-5646, or Henry Halff, 493-7501.
Summer Signups
Don't forget to sign up to host one of our brunch Sundays this summer. Bring a dish to share and stay for coffee and conversation! We're also having informal "fun Sundays" for the children this summer; if you'd like to present a craft or lifeguard a swimming party, sign up! Sign-up sheets can be found in the coffee room.
