children in RE class

CUUC enjoys a Religious Education program which is strongly supported by licensed teachers, experienced RE teachers and a congregation which loves to see the growth of their children.  The program is multifaceted and includes stories, discussions, arts & crafts, critical thinking. skills, *social action projects,  **Multi-generational services, and the occasional swimming day in our pool.  This church offers a foundation of religious tolerance and a commitment to UU values and traditions.  This fall, we embark on a study of World Religions.

At CUUC, we feel that it is important that the children and adults of our congregation participate together in worship; so all the children are required to be present for the beginning of the worship service until dismissed for their class.  **From time to time, the children participate in and/or facilitate (with the help of the RE Committee) in several multi-generational services every year.  These may include, but are not limited to: Water Communion, Ingathering, Dia de los Muertos, Guest at Your Table (UUSC), Bread Communion, Flower Communion & RE Sunday.

Since Unitarian Universalism is a religion that champions healing our world through service, we work hard to pass on those values to our children.  The 7 Principles of UUism stress making the world a better place and our children also are encouraged to take on *social action projects throughout the church year.  They are currently engaged in ongoing work for the SAMMs Shelter through collection of items and clothing; in collecting toiletries and assembling kits for Under The Bridge and in helping to make food bags to pass out to San Antonio’s growing homeless population.  This year, they hope to Trick or Treat for UNICEF and support Heifer International as well as the UUSC, the Little Red Wagon Foundation and the Empty Bowl Project.

CUUC share our youth YRUU with First UU, San Antonio.  They currently meet at CUUC once a month.

We have nursery space for toddlers and infants.  Toddlers will be provided this fall with age appropriate learning experiences.

Check our schedule for classes.   WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU!
